Wendy O'Leary

Co-Author

Wendy O’Leary is a family member whose adult son has both a serious mental illness and a traumatic brain injury that he sustained as a teen when he was hit by a car. She has 17 + years’ experience working in mental health advocacy and providing Family Peer Support and Wraparound Certification training and coaching. Wendy has been trained in LEAP, Nurtured Heart Approach, Nonviolent Communication, Motivational Interviewing, Youth Mental Health First Aid and other modalities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Holistic Theology. She is a Certified Family Peer Support Specialist and currently works at NAMI Utah as a Family Mentor and Mental Health Court Advocate. Wendy has trained many individuals to share their stories in powerful and effective ways. She champions peer and family peer support, believing that the lived experience of individuals and family members is our most valuable asset for creating real change. She is dedicated to “comforting the disturbed and 140 Kay Whiting Harrison disturbing the comfortable” as she works to address the current ‘crisis of care’ for and the discrimination against those with serious mental illnesses. She knows firsthand the burden of care on families which can often prove insurmountable as they become emotionally and physically exhausted and financially wiped out trying to provide the care that is needed for their loved one to engage in treatment and recovery.

Without this care, the outcomes for seriously mentally ill individuals are dire - including incarceration, homelessness, poverty, suicide, addictions, and early death from all causes. Wendy enjoys being a freelance writer. She has published dozens of articles in local and regional magazines and newspapers. She writes about community, social and spiritual issues, including mental health. She has extensive experience developing training curriculums as well as marketing content for both print and digital media. Wendy lives in beautiful Midway, Utah and enjoys spending as much time outside as she can - hiking, biking, paddle boarding and enjoying nature. Her favorite things to do are road tripping, reading, dancing, and playing pool. Oh, and writing!!!

Zach Rawlings

Audiobook Engineer, Web Designer

Zach works with my husband Lex at Park City Jewelers. When I was nearing the completion of my book, I realized that I needed a website and hired Zach to build it for me. Once Zach became familiar with my story, he insisted that I record an audiobook version.

Luckily, Zach is a musician and has a small recording studio in his home. He was able to record and edit the entire audiobook with Lex and I narrating. The music at the beginning and end of the audiobook were also written and recorded by Zach.

If you need help with marketing, web design, or audio recording, please reach out to his email:
